DORI STERN – Education Director
Dori brings to The Sunday School a love of children combined with years of Jewish education experience. Dori also exhibits a great deal of common sense and understanding about how children develop and learn.
Dori became Education Director in 2004 and provides the vision for the school. She is passionate in making sure that each child receives the education he/she deserves and staffs each classrooms accordingly.
Education and community service have always been an integral part of her life. Dori served on the Brookline School Committee where she was liaison to the Massachusetts Legislature and the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. She has also been on the Brookline Access Television, the Board of Directors for The Israeli Family Stress Initiative, Brookline Town Meeting Member and a PTO president at a Brookline elementary school. In 1999, Dori was selected “Person of the Year” in Brookline for her work with Brookline’s immigrant population.
Dori has her Masters Degree from Brandeis University in the Hornstein Program for Jewish Communal Service. She studied at Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel and has B.A. in history and Middle Eastern Studies.
Dori and her husband have raised two boys who are now both in college. One is a freshman at Brandeis and the other is beginning his Phd in clinical psychology at Temple University in Philadelphia.
ILENE MOGAVERO – Administrator
Ilene began at The Sunday School at the beginning of the 2009-10 academic year. She brings with her terrific organization and a bright personality. Ilene’s responsibilities include administrative support to the Education Director and the Board, she is the registrar and the person who handles inquiries for the school.
Ilene and her husband have raised twin daughters who are now in college.
